Anger Management
Do you avoid conflicts only to blow up later at something that seems to be inconsequential?
Are you afraid of others' displeasure, disapproval and anger?
Do you feel you have little or no control over your anger once it starts to bubble up?
It is surprising to most people when they are told that anger is a natural feeling all human beings
have and that there are very good, adaptive reasons for humans to experience anger. Without anger, we'd be more
vulnerable and exposed. Without anger, we wouldn't be able to respond to something that hurts, violates or is unfair to us.
Unfortunately, children often are discouraged from expressing their anger and in order to survive
their childhood, children adjust and end up repressing their anger, not letting it take its natural course.
As a result, when these children become adults, they have trouble expressing and/or controlling their anger appropriately,
in a way that helps them to respond to a variety of situations.
